Whether you're a seasoned eco-warrior or just getting started, there's a place for you. Here's what's happening now:

🍃 Volunteer Opportunities:

-City-wide Trash Bin Collection & Swap — Held in the BHS parking lot Friday, August 14 (12-4 pm), Saturday, August 15 (9 am-5 pm), and Sunday, August 16 (12- 5 pm). Green Beverly is supporting a city-wide effort to recycle or trade old trash and recycling bins, and we need volunteers to help keep operations smooth and safe. Two-hour shifts available across all three days. Sign up here. (THIS WEEKEND!)

-Window Inserts — Be part of a team helping plan a community build for window inserts, which slip into existing windows from the inside and help save money on heating bills. We're looking for a core group to help organize a build primarily for our low-income residents. See this link for more information and to sign up to express interest.

-Food Diversion — Every Sunday at 11:45 am and Thursday at 9:45 am, help us move unsold food from Whole Foods to neighbors in need. Must be able to carry 35 lbs and have a larger vehicle. Email volunteer@greenbeverly.orgwith "MOVE FOOD" in the subject line.

-Driveway Parties — Live in Centerville, Raymond Farms (behind Henry's), or Gloucester Crossing? Host a driveway chat with Green Beverly this summer! We'll talk about home energy, bills, heat pumps, and more. Email info@greenbeverly.org with "Driveway Party" in the subject line.

-Take Action to Mitigate Climate Change by Being a Beta Tester— Friend of Green Beverly, John Livermore is founder and president of Healthy Home Healthy Planet. John is working on a narrative feature film called The Moviement, that encourages audiences to take meaningful steps toward climate action. The promo reel states, “Now is the time. This is our moment.” To ensure the success of The Moviement, John is asking for help in testing the success of the various actions that are suggested at the end of the film. If you would like to be a beta tester for this movement, please fill out this form and John’s team will reach out to you! Participation in the beta testing will take 30-60 minutes.

🌱Keep houses COOL in the HEAT!

• Plug the holes, seal the gaps, keep the heat out of your house!  Incentives and rebates are available from Mass Save to do the work of insulating! 

• Use fans! Check out this guide. 

• Heat pumps COOL and HEAT.  Install heat pumps instead of central air. Mass Save has rebates for up to $8500 to install heat pumps. In order to take advantage of Mass Save rebates, you need to start with a no-cost assessment.

🌱Reduce your trash  - keep food out of the trash - compost it instead! 
Green Beverly has launched a FREE compost pilot program with two new drop-off sites at Hannah Elementary School and Glen Urquhart School. Beverly residents who register will also receive access to two additional compost locations run by the City of Beverly.
Participation is simple: review the composting guidelines, complete the Green Beverly sign-up form, and receive your combination lock code within a week. Then drop off up to two bags of kitchen scraps per week at either school location.
