EarthSpring celebrates a whole season of Earth Days! Keep a close eye on Green Beverly’s events calendar, which is continuously filling up with opportunities to connect with the planet and one another, starting now and going into early June. We kicked off EarthSpring with a party at Old Planters on Friday, March 28th! OUR BEVERLY POLLINATOR PROJECT
|
|
Big news — our Green Beverly Pollinator Project is taking off again, thanks to a generous private donation. After last year’s success (100 kits distributed, map launched, and gardens planted), we’re doubling down in 2025 to complete the pollinator network across Beverly. This phase includes:
🪻 200 free pollinator garden kits
💸 A new rebate program for the installation of new native gardens
📍 An expanded Beverly Pollinator Map
🌿 Community education on native plants & the harm of 'cides (pesticides, herbicides, etc)
🌼 The creation of a large native demonstration garden at the Beverly Cove Community Center Every garden helps our pollinator friends travel safely and thrive — and strengthens our local food ecosystem. Learn more about each part of the project: greenbeverly.org/garden.

COMMUNITY CONVERSATION RECAP: FOOD FIGHT!

At the end of February, Green Beverly and The Cabot, in partnership with the North Shore Farm and Food Coalition, presented Food Fight, a ‘Climate’ Community Conversation about local food systems. This event had a great turnout and featured expert presenters, local farms, two hosts in apple costumes, many Beverly students, artwork from two local artists, free food from Root and Kim Gregory Pure Pastry, a lively Q&A, and much more. Thanks to all for a great event! Watch the short highlight reel.

GOING GREEN ON ST. PATRICK’S DAY Members of our leadership team led a lively Going Green Jeopardy game for seniors at the Beverly Council on Aging on March 17th (note the holiday-themed socks)! The game was all about energy efficiency and lowering electric bills – who knew that Mass Save will provide REBATES for air sealing and insulating to ALL residents including income-eligible homeowners and landlords? |

On March 4th, Green Beverly presented this new award at the Greater Beverly Chamber of Commerce Business Awards. FOOD DIVERSION PROGRAM Welcome Scott Gorman! Scott recently joined Green Beverly to help run our Food Diversion Program. Every week, several times a week, Green Beverly rescues food that will not be sold and brings it to those in our community who need it. We rely on volunteers to assist our staff person in moving all this food from place to place. Thank you to Scott, all our volunteers, and to SPUR, an organization that supplies our Friday volunteers. We are looking for Sunday volunteers! 11:45 on Sunday help move food from Whole Foods to a refrigerator, must be able to carry 35 pounds and have a SUV, station wagon or big back seat/trunk type car.
