Joyride! The Future of Transportation in Beverly

Join us for an evening of entertainment and conversation with local experts to explore the impacts of how we get around, review the transportation options currently available to Beverly residents, imagine what a future with sustainable transportation could look like, and identify greener actions we can take now. We’ll share strategies, tips, and tricks (big and small) to reduce our miles and choose more efficient ways to travel. There will be something for everyone—even busy families with children.

This playful stage production on sustainable transportation features local students, talks from local experts, and a Q&A panel. Learn about Beverly’s specific challenges and opportunities, and walk away with practical tips to go greener. You’ll even get a glimpse of what might be possible in the future. Yes, there may be personal spaceships one day—come find out!

Free Dinner! Free, allergy-friendly meals will be provided by Root, with dessert by Kim's Pure Pastry. Bring your water bottles for free refills.

🌼Hannah Elementary Students Make Composting Easier ♻️

Last month, we launched a Compost Pilot Program with new drop-off locations at Hannah Elementary and Glen Urquhart School. The program inspired Hannah students to create resources that make composting simpler for everyone.

🌼Big news for Beverly and Beyond!

We received a grant for Community Aggregation: Green is the New Standard. We'll be working directly with MA municipalities during their renewal cycles to help them adopt 100% renewable energy as their (default) standard.

To accelerate this work, we're hiring a part-time Community Aggregation Outreach Director to lead municipal outreach, build industry partnerships, and maximize renewable energy across MA.

Want to save money on your electricity, heating, and cooling costs? Green Beverly is offering free bill reviews to help you reduce energy use and expenses while helping the environment. Bring your utility bill and stop by during our tabling hours!

We are looking for folks to come help us with ongoing volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Whether you're a seasoned eco-warrior or just getting started, there's a way for you to pitch in.

Current Opportunity:

Food Diversion

Each week, Green Beverly volunteers and staff rescue food that will not be sold and bring it to those in our community who need it. We are currently looking for Sunday volunteers! At 11:45 am on Sundays, can you help us move food from Whole Foods to a refrigerator? Must be able to carry 35 pounds and have a SUV, station wagon, or big back seat/trunk type of car.

BEVERLY’S ECO ESSENTIALS 🌱

⭐Qualified residential customers who use heat pumps for home heating became eligible for a new reduced electric delivery rate. This seasonal rate applies to electricity usage from November 1 through April 30, helping reduce energy costs during colder months. Please go to National Grid’s page to learn all about it!

Few details:

If your Heat Pump was installed in your home with the support of a Mass Save® program in 2019 or later, and you’re on a residential electric rate, you may be automatically enrolled in this reduced rate.
If you don’t receive an auto-enrollment confirmation from National Grid and believe you should qualify, National Grid made it easy to sign up. Please see their heat pump enrollment page for the application form and more details.
