A CONVERSATION TO DEMYSTIFY WASTE IN BEVERLY

Green Beverly, The Cabot, and Beverly Waste Reduction Committee present:

Where does it go? What does it become? How can we reduce it? Local experts from Black Earth, Winwaste, Republic, Beverly Library, and Unpacked Living will answer all your waste-related questions in a playful stage production and Q&A.

2023 MILESTONES

What a journey 2023 has been! A journey that would not have been possible without all of you. I'm incredibly grateful to have met and worked with such a great group of people that are passionate about our mission.

Here are a few 2023 milestones to celebrate:

A Home Energy event at The Cabot that drew ~200 people
Presented to the City Council and School Committee on numerous occasions
The planting of a pollinator garden at Dane St. beach
An expanded Food Diversion program
Referral and acceptance into the 1% for the Planet Network
Coached several people on a variety of sustainability topics
Nomination as "Small Non-profit of the Year" by Greater Beverly Chamber of Commerce
Another successful Pumpkin Smash that brought ~2,000 people to our only commercial farm in Beverly to learn more about composting
An intensive 5 community outreach campaign around Urban Agriculture
Launched our Business Services and performed business consults at 5+ businesses/orgs
And much more!

PROJECT UPDATES

For the past year, Green Beverly has been leading a coalition of local farms and food based organizations to design a plan for greater food security in the five most populous cities on the North Shore: Beverly, Danvers, Lynn, Peabody, and Salem by gathering input from food pantries and co-ops, land and food organizations, residents, policymakers, and other stakeholders.

CLIMATE NEWS

“Buildings are responsible for about 35 percent of greenhouse gas emissions in Massachusetts, making them the second-largest source behind the transportation sector”

7 Communities get green light for fossil-fuel free building pilot

GREEN ACTION

As the temperature drops, heating is on all of our minds. There are a variety of Green Actions you can take to heat your home more sustainably. A few include:

Program your thermostat so minimize heat usage when you’re not home while still maintaining a comfortable temperature when you are
Seal drafty doors and windows
Schedule an Energy Audit from Mass Save (or ask your landlord to have one)

SPOTLIGHT ON: SABRINA AUCLAIR

OUR EXPERT ON:
BUYING LOCAL, SMALL BUSINESS AND PACKAGING

Sabrina has been a Beverly resident since 2017 and owns the only Zero Waste store in town, Unpacked Living.

Her experience as a sustainable business owner and plastic-free advocate gives her the knowledge necessary to guide our residents and businesses on a path to a greener experience.

A PROGRAM FOR EVERYONE!

We created this program to connect Beverly residents and businesses with their neighbors who have experience or expertise in specific areas of sustainability.

This is a FREE service. Our goal is to share what we know to make the City of Beverly greener.
