Six-year old Beverly resident Stanley loves recycling. His parents reached out to let us know Stanley was celebrating his 6th birthday with a recycling-themed party (naturally) – complete with a recycling BINGO game. Our Community Engagement Director, Julia, stopped by to celebrate and give Stanley a recycling crown. Thanks for caring about sustainability at such a young age, Stanley, and Happy Birthday!

NINA ORLANDO AND LILI DUCHARME ADVANCE TO STATE!

Congratulations to Nina Orlando and Lili Ducharme, students of the DECA chapter at Beverly High School, and Green Beverly project partners, who advanced to the State competition after presenting their project at the district competition on January 7th! DECA is an international organization that teaches participants about the principles of marketing, entrepreneurship, and management. Nina and Lili have been working directly with Green Beverly to design a project to raise awareness and funds to support its mission. They chose Green Beverly because they admire the work of the organization, and the goals it holds to better our community. |

COACH SPOTLIGHT: SARAH CULLINAN AND IRIS WEAVER

Meet Iris Weaver: Wild Edibles, Herbs & Plants Coach and Sarah Cullinan: Plant-Based Diet Coach Sarah and Iris have extensive and unique knowledge of sustainable food practices and are available to advise Beverly residents who may want to learn more. Iris Weaver, an herbalist and wild edible plants and herbs expert, focuses on locally grown wild and cultivated plants. These are often plants commonly found in backyards, gardens, or even public areas – for food, medicine, and crafts – and she enjoys sharing how to use them in sustainable and affordable ways. |

Sarah Cullinan offers her expertise on how to transition to a lower-impact diet. She became a vegetarian in 2005 in an effort to reduce her own carbon footprint, and has learned about nutrition through fueling a decade of her own marathon and triathlon training, and now a husband and young son, on a plant-based diet.
