SUSTAINABLE CLOTHES SHOPPING

BUY SECOND HAND

If you can’t mend or alter it, look for a “new to you“ item from second-hand local and online sources. Local is always best from an environmental perspective, but there’s a larger selection online.

Look through our lists below for our recommended sources for gently used clothes.

BUY QUALITY

When buying new clothes avoid cheap, fast-fashion brands if at all possible. Investing in quality materials and classic styles mean your clothes will look great for a decade (not just a season). A bigger up-front cost may not cost you more in the long run, either. For instance: If you can afford a pair of high-quality shoes, they might cost five times as much as a fast-fashion option yet last you ten times as long.
