Green Actions

A greener home is a comfortable home.

We’ve laid out a spectrum of Green Actions you can take to heat your home more sustainably and hopefully save some money. We hope we inspire you to ACT!

START HERE: Top Heating Actions

  • program your thermostat to minimize heat usage when you’re not home while still maintaining a comfortable temperature (Get inexpensive programmable thermostats and “smart” thermostats at a steep discount through Mass Save as well as local hardware stores.)

  • wear an extra layer and keep your home cooler

  • seal drafty doors and windows (more here)

  • close your storms

  • Go to our Utility Bill Review Program for comprehensive information including ways to lower energy usage, money saving tips, discounts, rebates, and more. Contains Renter, Landlord and Homeowner specific information.

  • convert to the most efficient heating method you can (ideally a whole house ground- or air-source heat pump system); there are many state and federal rebates for efficient systems (this starts with a MassSave Assessment)
