Join Dr. Dorothy Boorse from Gordon College to learn all about vernal pools. Dr. Boorse will talk about her love of aquatic communities found in vernal pools. In Beverly there are about 25 state certified vernal pools and almost 100 other wet spots that have potential to be certified. She will cover what is a vernal pool, what are the plant and animal indicators of one, and why they are so important ecologically and just so cool. There will also be a demonstration of how to use Mass Mapper to help you find local vernal pools and see them for yourself!
