Sustainable Small Business Spotlight: Kid Dream Coffee Company

In this series, we’re highlighting some Beverly shops that center sustainability in their business practices and/or selection of merchandise. But remember that whenever you shop small, you shop sustainably.

Opening a business in the food service industry is never easy, but doing it in a pandemic? Not for the faint-hearted. Husband and wife team Kalvin and Abi Reynolds opened their community-oriented Kid Dream Coffee Company, right downtown off Cabot Street, just in the fall of 2021. The effort was partially funded with a Kickstarter campaign that demonstrates just how eager our town was to welcome them. Green Beverly caught up with Kalvin to learn more (video below).

Kalvin and Abi brought more than 20 years of combined experience in the coffee industry to Kid Dream - and a lifelong love of coffee shops! Sustainability and local connections are key to their business. They offer locally-baked goods from A&J King (Salem) and Bonny Breads (another fabulous Beverly small business). Their espresso drinks use Broadsheet coffee from Cambridge which maintains direct relationships with small farmers with sustainable practices.

Kid Dream also offers reusable cups for filtered water and in-house drinks, a compost system and compostable take-out containers, and a strong community ethic to build a sustainable small business in the heart of Beverly. Swing by and grab a delicious latte or an avocado toast with chimichurri and lemon (or both!).

We are so excited to have this outstanding cafe as part of our local and sustainable food community.
